Following a long period of lock down and no fishing on the 3rd August and against all odds I went with a friend fishing at Farmoor it was hot, just into the 30's mainly sunny with a bit of cloud cover, so we expected it to be a tough day with fish deep and not too much action. This was not the case, within 10 mins we had the first fighting fit rainbow in the bag. We enjoyed steady action all day and ended up with a dozen in the bag. What worked best for us was an intermediate line a 10ft leader with a small black/green blob on the point and a red head Dawl/bach on the droppers. By the end of the day we had lost count of the fish we returned and those lost before they got to the net.
So it goes to show it's never a bad time to go fishing, we enjoyed being out again and at this time of the year every fish is a bonus.
